Premix dispersion: questions to settle before commercial batching
Homogeneity is not created by the premix alone. It depends on the premix, carrier, dose, mixing method and the physical behaviour of the customer’s full batch.
Section 01
Map the scale difference
Low-dose micronutrients must be distributed through a much larger bulk matrix. Record the inclusion rate and batch size so the formulation and carrier strategy can be discussed against the real dilution challenge.
Section 02
Understand physical behaviour
Particle size, density, electrostatic behaviour, moisture sensitivity and flow can influence segregation or poor distribution.
- Premix-to-matrix density difference
- Minimum practical dose
- Order of addition
- Transfer points after blending
Section 03
Verify the process—not just the formula
A controlled trial or agreed sampling plan can help identify whether the proposed mixing time and sequence are appropriate for the intended application.
